One of my favorite children's authors is Jan Brett. She came to the Iowa City Library and we were able to go and see her and get our book...Gingerbread Friends autographed. I was totally excited, much more than my kids, but actually Markus really enjoyed her presentation on how she illustrates her books. He came home and wrote his own books for a week. Now we check out her books at the library and when we read them at home Markus can identify with the lady who wrote them and "drew the pictures". Of course we met Hedgie as well when we went. Jonah avoided him as much as possible.
